Managing Director's Message

Welcome to the Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation (ZAFFICO) PLC website. The Corporation was incorporated in September 1982 as a Limited Company under the then Companies Act Cap 388 of the Laws of Zambia following the commercialisation of the Industrial Plantations Division (IPD) of the Forestry Department under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

In February 2020, ZAFFICO was listed on the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) and now operates as a Public Limited Company (PLC) and is a subsidiary of the Industrial Development Corporation Zambia Limited (IDC).

The Corporation’s business objective is to establish and manage industrial exotic forest plantations and supply quality wood products for local and export markets.

In order to meet the growing demand for timber, the Corporation has embarked on an exotic forest plantation expansion programme from the Copperbelt Province, where the Corporation has been doing its business, to other parts of the country. New Plantations have since been established in Kawambwa Kasama, Kalumbila, Lupososhi, Mushindamo, Nakonde and Shiwangandu districts. Currently, ZAFFICO owns over 50,000 hectares of Pine and Eucalyptus plantations. The establishment of plantations in the country has contributed not only to meeting the demand for wood products but is also a major source of livelihood for a majority of people in Zambia.

In line with Government’s diversification and value addition programme as well as the Corporation’s strategic focus, ZAFFICO in 2014 set up a Pole Treatment Plant to add value to the poles and meet the country’s demand for treated poles which can be used for fencing, construction and power transmission. The Plant located in Kalulushi on the Copperbelt Province produces about 140,000 of treated poles of international standard per year.

ZAFFICO will continue to venture into new and viable businesses that will ensure that the Corporation contributes to job and wealth creation and subsequently, improve the well-being of the people of Zambia. We hope you will find the information on our website helpful.
