Lupososhi plantation

Background

Lupososhi Plantation Group is one of the new stations established in Northern Province of Zambia by ZAFFICO PLC. The station started its operations on 10th August, 2019 in line with the 7th National Development Plan expansion programme.

Location and Size

Lupososhi is a new district and was previously part of Luwingu district of Northern Province and its administration offices are still located in Luwingu district. Lupososhi Station is located approximately 50 kilometers from Luwingu district administrative offices on Mansa/Kasama Road.

The Group has a total of 2,000 hectares of land located in Her Royal Highness (HRH) Chieftainess Chungu’s area. The Plantation is surrounded by villages which include Katambala, Mundaya, Mumba, Sakeni and Sande.

Current Operations

A total of 220 hectares of land has been planted as at 31st December 2020 of which 53.7 hectares is Eucalyptus Grandis tree species and 167.6 hectares is Pine tree species. It is planned that a total of 200 hectares of land will be planted during the 2021/2022 planting season in line with the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan.

Economic and Social Benefits

Lupososhi Plantation Group is the major employer of Lupososhi residents. More than 150 seasonal employees have been engaged to carry out the various activities ranging from fire management and plantation establishment and management. The Plantation is therefore providing income in the district.
